The Alshow video and DVD player is great. And I have used all of the video players on line that I could find including share and commercial products! it's great for the novice because it has codecs included, so they play a video or dvd without needing anything extra. in the unlikely event that you start to play a video there isn't a codec for, it automatically downloads it and installs it if you have an Internet connection. For advanced users it has nice things like screen capture, aspect ratio adjustments, and window size, color, brightness, contrast, saturation controls, zoom and much more! there are some ok video players out there, but this is the one I always come back to because it is great.
