This is a fine program for home use and for many business applications, but if you are inundated with spam as we are in my office it is less effective every day. I will regularly have 100 emails in my "Live Mail" of which 3-5 are legitimate. Granted it is catching 300-400, but there is still a great deal of time wasted and a lot of brain damage while daily setting new filters.

If you have a business which requires your email address to be listed on the web, or which must be used to sign up for various software or equipment registration, then you may wish to purchase a better program. I'm currently searching.

Freezes Outlook and corrupts pst files
Watch out, SpamKiller' about to crash your PC. Spamkiller cannot cope with Inbox subfolders (ie if you store emails under different headings) and will freeze Outlook or Outlook Express if you try. Tech Suppoert is expensive or slow and keen to palm you off on a hand-me-down solution. (In this case they offeerd a crude workaround that makes a mockery of how Outlook is supposed to work. SpamKiller also has a habit of corrupting your pst files (the foiles that hold your precious Outlook or Outlook Express data, including addresses and emails) and you may have to run a rescue program called scanpst.exe. Frankly, you're brave - or made - to buy this product. If you do, PLEASE back up your data first!

Spamkiller Corrupts Outlook Express
I experienced the same problem others experienced with McAfee Spamkiller using a Dell Inspiron 1705. The program corrupted my Outlook Express and has caused loss of files and loss of use of the 36 month product. When trying to work with the McAfee online service department I waited an hour for the service and it was 30 minutes before the overseas technician asked me what country I lived in. When I called Dell they sent me to a special McAfee number and then wanted to charge me $2 a minute for service. Although I have taken steps to repair the Express file the problem goes unresolved.

This program filters out less than 50% of spam. In PC Magazines tests, Norton Antispam filtered out 95%. Spamkiller is no good. But at least it doesn't filter out legitimate mail.

mcafee inteference of outlook express, Fri Oct 19 2007

Help - I'm not sophisticated.
I received a dialouge box from mcafee recommending I allow them to delte RemAdm-PSKill. Like an idiot I said yes. The deletion caused me to lose all my outlook express emails plus my ability to access my email. Any sugestions as mcafee tech support was zero.

Spam Killer Will Eventually Kill Your Windows Live Mail, Sun Jan 27 2008

I've been using McAfee Internet Security Suite for several years but within the past year I was getting error messages concerning the McAfee Spam Killer. Just this week it started preventing Windows Live Mail from starting via the msmail.dll error. At first I didn't know it was McAfee causing the Live Mail problem. I searched out the error message from Live Mail on the web only to find that most people tried re-installing Live Mail but with limited success, I then decided to disable any software that connected with my Live Mail such as McAfee scanning my incoming and outgoing mail as well as the Spamkiller and I got my Live Mail up and working again. I them limited the McAfee to just scanning for viruses and let the Spamkiller disabled and the Live Mail program still works fine. My advice is until McAfee admits and fixes their problem with Spamkiller you should look for another spamming software.
