Great clock
I've had this clock on my desktop for 7 months now and simply love it. You can select the chime song and make the clock face any size. Its analog and antique...very elegant. I leave it running on my desktop all the time and guests think I have a real chiming clock in the room...it can chime every fifteen minutes if you want and the chimes are beautiful. Its a very simple, excellent clock and I've had no problems with it. It can also be made VERY large for people with decreased vision. I love this clock.

Just a clock?
Chimer is a neat desktop clock, and is just about the best freeware featuring a desktop timepiece that I have seen without any of the ridiculous cartoon stylizing and silly looking animations.

Chimer is just a clock, and that is what it should be, but I think it could be a lot better. I know it’s freeware, but I want my desktop clock to reek of Rolex, and not look like a mass-produced wall clock back in the early to late 50’s!

How about some gold and silver instead of the base metal look Chimer now sports, huh? If only there were some other skins to choose from too, and if the clock could be customized, this nifty desktop clock could be the best darn desktop clock going, hands down. Forgive me, but I wish there was a large selection of old clocks to choose from on the menu instead of being stuck with just one. How about some vintage pocket watch style skins, a variety of dial selections featuring something other than just the roman numerals and plain looking hour, minute and second hands for the all important indicators? The option of actually being able to hear the clock tick would be way cool too! There is something very special about the ticking of an old clock or watch that adds to the nostalgia of a timepiece.

Unfortunately, in its present condition, Chimer can’t tick like a real clock. It looks quaint, and reminds me of the plain old fashion clock that was on the wall in school when I was a kid. I hated that clock, because the hands looked like they were glued to the dial, and there was nothing exciting about it at all.

Chimer is just like that old school room clock. Over all Chimer is a good freeware product that is easy to use and adds a new dimension to the desktop allowing one to check the time without being subjected to the boring digital display. I really like the feature of being able to size the clock giving me the option of making it larger or smaller, yielding added utility. Also, the ability to select a different chime from a sizeable library of chime sounds is a plus for Chimer. Actually this feature, like its name, is the only redeeming aspect besides incremental sizing that there is to hoot about.

Beyond this, the clock performs its required function of displaying the time in analog style, and chimes nicely according to your hearts desire. Ok, I also like the menu options available with this desktop clock, but wish there were more of them. Everything is easy to use with Chimer and everything works. This is expected as well as refreshing.

Hey! You know what else I would like to see with Chimer? A touch of animation from time to time, like a twinkle on the highlights of the timepiece or a flash of color change on the bezel giving the clock some luster and personality.

I would even like to see the word “Chimer” printed on the dial in nice looking script! This, as well as other finishing touches would make the Chimer desktop clock freeware super and special. Hay, when can we get an upgrade for chimer and what will it cost? FJ (Smiling respectfully, looking over my glasses, adjusting my tie, wondering where I put my wallet, and waving goodbye.)

3 skins are taste specific!
It's a nice clock, but the three skins provided are overly ornate. Also, like most clock programs, it needs to take up space on your tool bar to be open.

This is a lovely little appliance. I have it set for ship's bells and the antique clock face. Somehow it humanizes my computer. The clock can be shown or not, with one click on the icon in the toolbar. All of the chimes have a nice tone. I've been very pleased with Chimer.
