i used to have problems whenever i updated my site till recently was told by a friend to try out xitami web server
at first i was reluctant but later came to appreciate this web tool since i have never had any fallouts using it

While there is no persistant CGI (PHP, Perl, or Python) support, and ASPs are NOT an option, this is the best balanced server I have seen. Much easier to administrate than APACHE, and more secure than EVERYTHING else, it still provides all of the performance and capability needed for most small personal or business web sites. What I like best is that the entire configuration migrates between platforms easily. I can run the same site on Windows Server, Linux, AIX, Solaris, or HP-UX and neither the customer for the junior admin needs to know. IT just WORKS! Very nice job!

into all these things I'll give it a shot, don't know what xtami does, but.. If's it's free "IT MUST BE GOOD"!

xitami is a very good webserver wich has many options. you can also use xitami to host ftp sites! just perfect

i had to check cgi scripts before putting them on my providers webspace, so by chance i came across xitami. what can i say? the last time i dared to dive into this subject, that huge amount of required expertise nagged on my patience and took me ages to comprehend. but i just wanted to do perl debugging, not full scale hosting, so i postponed my efforts. until now! never say never: xitami rocks, it installes and performs like just another windows application, and i even think about a 24/7 server now, it's so incredibly esay to maintain, gee. 5 out of 5, what else.

i use this webserver on production systems along with php 4.2 (at this point it wasn't supported on apache) and it works beautifully. very easy configuration and excellent windows cgi support (there is also a visual basic 5/6 script for you to start quick).


windows 2k pro (with tcp/ip and memory optimizations), xitami, mysql 4.x and php 4.2 is a kick ass money saving combination for upto 10000 simultaneous users on a p4/amd 1-2 ghz.

The only time i have had this web server crash is when i have used its cgi (vb) to launch server side win32 gui programs (a clumsy and dangerous process itself, but i needed it do some projects).

Ftp server is kind of not all that intuitive - i'd say go guidftp.

Exceptional Web Server, usefull for testing your webpages before sending them to ISP, or serving them yourself. Supports cgi, java, php, asp.

Install the cgi compiled PHP executable and configure the Xitami filter in seconds. If you have difficulties go to PHP documentation and check what changes are needed in php.ini to work with Xitami. It's easy. (Check for the force_redirect) issue.

In this server there is cgi ! So you can use cgi but how should i use cgi when PHP is not working right ! I start the server and go under localhost ! Now i open with localhost a PHP Datei but the browser (IE Latest V) will donwload the Datei from my own computer ! Pleas help me.......
