I've used SPF for several years now on 95, 98, Me, 2000 and XP! Still using it to this very day. Tried ZoneAlarm and BlackIce but nothing is as SIMPLE to use and functions SO WELL as SPF, even to this day! Symantec obviously bought Sygate to dump the SPF project as it would have been the BIGGEST threat to them on the commercial FW side of things.

I have used Zonealarm, at one time i would update it and it went bezerk, that is when I dumped firewall's and the idea about it totally, then i heard about HP thin clients having a firewall on it called sygate. it is great let me tell you i could not even do a crossloop and also get a gtalk connection through ...very robust...i know now what i would recommend to every person who has a comp at home

sygate firewall is the best free firewall i have tried zonealarm but this seems to be better not only is my internet faster but is simple to use.this is now my number 1 firewall

There's a reason why the free Sygate version isn't suported anymore...it's too good to be Free!

I can hack through Black Ice in 18 seconds (my personal best). You better get Sygate back on that system of your before someone else gets you. BTW, what's your IP address? :)

I used to have sygate firewall, very safe and easy to use, but switched to black ice (firewall & anti hacker software) afterwards because it´s an effective protecting and detecting devise. Very cool and .... very "stealthy"

Easy to install, configurate and if necessary to uninstall without rests. Doesn't lose internet connection. After I installed the latest version from their website, I did Symantec Security Check and found that all ports are stealthy, like it must be with a good firewall. Sygate Personal Firewall remembers setting, so it will not give more pop-ups than necessary. Conclusion: Sygate Personal Firewall is the best choice.

The free version of Sygate's Firewall is very easy to use.No rules editing is needed to pass the stealth tests at grc.com.It uses more resources than I would like,but that's a trade-off that I am comfortable with.I haven't found any compatability issues with any other programs in my use of this firewall.This firewall is the answer for any average net surfer that is looking for excellent protection without expert knowledge required.I strongly recommend version 5.5 over 5.6!The install on the newest verion(5.6)was "buggy"!

I was having trouble with the new ZoneAlarm 5.0 firewall which was slowing down my internet connection and I use a Comcast cable modem. I feel ZoneAlarm 4.0 was much better. So I uninstalled ZoneAlarm 5.0 and tried the Sygate Personal Firewall 5.5 and it is everything that ZoneAlarm 4.0 was and better. I found that it did not slow my internet connection like ZoneAlarm 5.0 and its use is almost transparent. (Note: I have been a ZoneAlarm user for a long time but I guess their new product needs more work.)

I have been using Sygate for about 2 years now, and it has foiled at least 30 hack attempts!! The Pro version is even better... both versions have a "backtrace" button and logs for everything that's going on in your pc... I highly recommend it because I know it has saved my rear end quite a few times... :>)

I've used Sygate firewall for about six months, and I play a lot of online games. Whereas with my previous firewall, I was hacked regular, Sygate has kept me hacker trouble free. I think it is the best firewall on the market.

Easy to download & install, with the minimum of life changing decisions!

Once installed it sits quietly in the Taskbar until some stealthware on your PC tries to communicate with its masters (Usually MS...) You will be surprised by the number of programmes that try it on!

You will have the option of allowing or disallowing access with a click or two.

You can access logs for Security & Traffic which have recorded all intrusions and actions which you would have been unaware of!

I have tried Zone Alarm but I prefer Sygate 5.5 because of its simplicity and effectiveness and its free!

I have been using Sygate Personal (Free)for more than 2 years. I rate it as the best frontline defence available. It has auto update, whois tracking and system/packet/traffic/security logging. Blocking and application permit/ask/deny facilities. I occasionally checkout the latest but Sygate I believe is all you need . . . and for personal use it is very generously free . . . perhaps an email of thanks would be appreciated. All we need now is a 'dialer detection'.
