awesome program
whoops, just toasted that file. well, r-undelete could get at it, so could restorer2000. but they both wanted $60 to retrieve it. the interface here isn't as slick or refined, but it is pretty close to those two while being free! great program!

Good software with a few flaws
I was looking for an easy-to-use "undelete" program and this one fit the bill. The only major drawback is (as previously noted) it requires you to select files one at a time and save them one at a time... It would have been nice to have a way to select files or select all and then restore in one fell swoop.
This leads to the other problem. Instead of re-instating the file into the File System's Allocation Table, it asks you to copy the file somewhere else. The downside to this is that if you have no other drives to copy to, then you risk overwriting the files you're trying save.
Other than that, it's a great free undelete program. I especially like the thoughtful inclusion of filtering by string.

A must-have for most Windows users
Restore deleted files that are no longer in the Recycle Bin! When a file is deleted from your computer, its contents aren't immediately destroyed. Its hard drive space is made available for use, but until that space is overwritten, your old data is usually intact. Restoration by Brian Kato recovers such files on either FAT or NTFS partitions. Only 406 KB (or 200 KB for XP or 2K), it fits easily on a floppy, or runs from your hard drive. Generally, the sooner you try to restore a file, the more successful you'll be. This program is on the "must-have" list on my site's "My Favorite Freeware" page.

Restoration v2.5.14
This utility has saved me a couple of times, once again just tonight I deleted something accidentally. I have 3 other commercial undeleters, but this is the only one...of 4... that works with device drivers too. I've successfully recovered from SD cards and pen drives now.
Not everything came across this time, but most of the data was there. I think that's the problem with undelete anyway, especially in Windows type environments (CE, etc.) where the OS is constantly writing to the disk even if you're not doing anything.
This app is tops!

Restoration
Very good program. Runs without requiring an install.

Restoration
Worked fine for me on NTFS Raid operating under Win2KPro. Loses a star cause each file must be restored individually and I am very happy to have them back for two clicks each!
Tried it on Win98. When compared side by side with shareware recover_my_file, Restoration stands up to its recovery peer. It is simple and effective. No fancy intrusive configuration. I hope all software would work like this one: does completely what it is supposed to accomplish. No more, no less.
