i can recommend this program because of its great usability! you have a lot of very helpful tools to work with like magicstick, rope and stamp to reach great results in colour- and size-optimization as well as grafic-belongings.
You can say its a little free photoshop.

I have been using many such those programs, but i would name this one as my favorite beside all the others.
It's worth trying or even more.
