Handy Backup is very easy to setup, use and modify.
My daily jobs backup and automatically keep 7 most recent versions. Weekly and monthly tasks create CDs for permanent offline storage. The CDs contain regular zip files which can be read anywhere.
A good feature is ability to serially link BU tasks so there is no cross-interference.
