DriveCrypt support is its downfall
I have used multiple Drivecrypt installations since 2003. Not a single upgrade has worked without problems. The only way to solve these problems has always been simple: Purchase a new "upgrade" or even a new package. This despite presumably free service upgrades or even registered upgrade service in my customer account.
The FAQ support section is unbelievably short. The upgrade menus are misleading. And support seems purposefully geared to lead you to other purchases.
The DC package is not bad, but the support issues are its downfall.

excellent product
I am using the product 2 years now and it works perfectly well. I love the possibility to encrypt an entire partition. 2 or 3 times i entered in contact with the support team and they answered my question immediately. One time i also used the live help system on their homepage and also there the resolution where quick.

DriveCrypt problems
I have used dc for three or four years now. Two weeks ago, I needed to transfer one of my licenses from my laptop to my second desktop. You would not believe the problems I have had with their support or (no support). I emailed them over 20 times trying to answer their questions, most of them asked several times. They had no concept of transfering, only wanted me to purchase another license.... I got so upset with the whole problem, I removed all of their volumes from my disc's and downloaded a program called "TrueCrypt". It is a free program, and I am now using it without any problems and I am happy with the program.
DriveCrypt is an ok program, but their support stinks... You have to pay for the program and dont expect any help... You are on your own......

Deceptive
This product seems great at first, boasting over 1,000 bits of encryption. However, that is NIL when you do not protect it properly. Be sure to use a good, long password with non-standard symbols (for example, open Notepad, change to font to Terminal. Press Alt + any number 1-255. You will get a character. The number you typed is its ASCII number. From 160-some onwards is non-standard ASCII characters. You should use these in your password!).
Every single character in your password translates to about 2 to 4 bits of security. Given that, your passwords (you have to use 3 passwords with Blowfish-448 encryption to get the 1300 bits of encryption) would have to be 250-500 characters long, in combination. I doubt anyone will have them that long.
*** FINAL DECISION ***
===== DECEPTIVE ======

Super product
No headers indicating whether its a container file, no backdoors for vendors to bypass - the ultimate and secure product!! Well worth the money, 1344bit is utter peace of mind :-)
I was looking for a software package that would provide decent on the fly encryption independent of windows, with good performance being the priority. There are a variety of encryption methods to choose from and the performance varies a great deal from one method to another. So I contacted their online chat support and asked them what seemed to be a simple question; "Which encryption method is fastest?" They had no idea. I would *never* buy from a company whose support is ignorant of such basic information about their own product. Not even having something as simple as benchmark data. Be WARNED!
