55555 Comodo Firewall (Free Edition)

I have been using Comodo Firewall for about 1 year and find that it operates with near transparency and manages my network traffic with a high degree of configureablity. I am going to try the Internet security product (also Free). I am currently using Avast AV and Comodo Firewall along with Ad-Aware. This combination is fantanstic and does not seem to slow down my laptop to any significant extent.
Configuring the Comodo Firewall is easy. Once you train it to recognize your frequently used IP TCP and UDP activities, it remembers these and runs in the background to block or trust programs that you specify. More detailed configuration is available at the level of specifying allowed behaviors for Defense such as protecting specific registry keys from modification or preventing communication to through the firewall by programs that you do not want to update ;) ...

55555 Best free anti-virus program available

I got nailed with some bad trojans and rootkit viruses that were hijacking my browser and preventing Windows Update from working. I tried AVG, Avira, Kaspersky, Clam, and Avast. NONE of them found anything but cookies. Then, as a last resort before a total format and re-install of Windows, I tried Comodo anti-virus. BINGO! It nailed EVERY rootkit and trojan on my computer....all 5 of them. No more browser hikackings and now Windows update works perfect. I am taking Avira OFF all my computers and installing Comodo. The only downside is it slows up the computer DURING the virus scan. I can live with that. I just schedule the scans for a time when I'm not using the comp.

44444 Better than others

Comodo AntiVirus/internet security is one of the best I have used. I am comparing it to Kaspersky and Zone alarm, both pro versions. This is the best free software you can get so far. But when ever you download a program you are giving away your rights. there will be a day when everyone will be able to make their own firewall and antivirus to suit their needs.

55555 Comodo antivirus

I've been using Comodo for about a year now. It's THE BEST. I've tried many others. For a free product it does the job very well. It's better than Norton or McAfee and functions better than Kaspersky. I also use the registry cleaner from Comodo and my computer has never run better. ;)

55555 Comodo Internet Security

I have been using the Comodo Firewall ever since it beat the firewall I had been using, the original Zone Labs "Zone Alarm" firewall, in an independent test several years ago. I cannot say that there were no issues with some of their very early versions, but I've had no issues with it in so long I cannot recall any details.

I never used their anti-virus software until I no longer saw 'beta' on it, and currently have Comodo and Kaspersky 2010 in use on PC's, and in all cases have the Comodo firewall in use. I also install the Comodo Internet Security package on any family or friend's PC that I work on, reinstall, etc.

The Comodo anti-virus takes a while longer to complete a full system scan than the Kaspersky does, but other than that I've found little difference between the two. Neither appears to have any noticeable impact on system performance; I scan over night so I cannot say what it’s like when it’s doing this.

I know of a test where the Comodo failed to notice the copying of test virus files onto a PC, but caught everything on the attempt to access them, and prevented anything harmful from occurring.

I cannot go into details here, but Kaspersky (along with a few other paid-for anti-virus software packages) does detect some examples of a specific type of non-malware software as malware. However, as I stated, they are not alone doing this, and I also understand why it does it.

The Kaspersky Anti-Virus also makes you uninstall the Comodo products before you install theirs, but once that has been completed you can reinstall the Comodo in order to use their firewall.

I also use Comodo's "Defense+" and disable the Windows UAC because while the UAC is a good idea, it does what it does based on a simple scheme; I have no evidence whatsoever that it 'learns' anything.

While Comodo's Defense+ can wear on your nerves a bit while you 'train' it, I find it to be far more intelligent and effective, as well as far less intrusive (again, once 'trained'.)

I simply have not experienced any of the issues that the folks here that are reaming Comodo claim to have, and this is with well over a hundred installations under my belt.

I will not compare this product any further with any other products, but based on extensive personal experience I can state in good conscience that I believe this product is as good as anything available and better than a number of products available for sale or provided free by ISP's.

In an effort to spare others some of the grief I’ve seen, I will also state that based on my experience, you could not give me an anti-virus software or Internet security package with a name that begins with “mc”.

Thank you for your time.

11111 Comodo software

A total piece of junkware. Does not uninstall itself cleanly, and leaves a complete mess in the Windows registry. Acts like a trojan virus, and should be banned.

11111 slowed computer to a crawl

I read all of the review, I installed it, it worked until I decided to do a scan, slowed my computer to a crawl and I had to uninstall it to get my computer to work again. I may not be tech savvy, but uninstalling it cleared up all the problems. To me that equals this program has issues at best

55555 EXCELLENT

After getting head -ache with all the free antivirus softwares like avast, avg, avira and also some trial versions of non-free softwares, I tried COMODO INTERNET SECURITY. It really works well. There is no problem in my pc after installing COMODO. COMODO can raise their collar for inventing a free antivirus and firewall that works much better than other free and licenced antivirus softwares. THUMBS UP TO COMODO.

11111 Comodo firewall

Based on some of the positive comments on this page and others I just down loaded the Comodo firewall and started to install.
I guess your other contributors can't have ready the EULA but I did :
You can't comment on the product unless you get written permission from Comodo.

They collect information about you to enforce their rights including ("but ot limited to...") IP address, MAC address and e-mail address.

If you do get into a legal problem with a 3rd party which involves the product in some way, Comodo have the right to get involved, use any lawyer they choose , and send you the bill...

I stopped reading there but it probably gets worse. This has to be the most obnoxious EULA ever, and since they feel they need it their products must suck badly.

Would anyone even consider any anti-spyware from this vendor ?

55555 Awesome AntiVirus!

I think those skeptic people posting bad rate were from different security companies trying to destroy the reputation of comodo free lifetime product. Don't believe them they're slanderous! Imagine its free usage that could possibly matched up other license paid program its comodo far the best in the world.Don't waste purchasing license -paid product they only exploit PC users and they're the creator of lots of virus then punish us to lost more money in our pocket for the sake of their own profit.

22222 Can't recommend this

I recently uninstalled Comodo 2.0 Beta. It was far too buggy. Problems:
1) Like the 1.1 GA version, it insists on quarantining programs it identifies as "Not a Virus." Although I manually mark these files to be bypassed, occasionally an update comes along that resets my choices and it quarantines these programs AGAIN. Specifically, VNC and one of the utility programs that ships with Motorola's Phone Tools.
2) The CavEmSrv.exe process constantly locks up and prevents E-mail from being sent or read until it is cancelled via the task manager.
3) The HIPS process is anmesiac and "forgets" which programs you've already approved constantly. The data base is also too small, and too many commonly used programs are unknown to it.
