Cerberus FTP Server reviewReviews for Cerberus FTP Server

55555 Perfect

Easiest server I've ever setup.

55555 It just works

Great file transfer server. The HTTPS web client was exactly what we were looking for.

33333 No home directory

It offers all that I may need except for a home directory...
Virtual path per user - OK
LDAP Authentication - OK
AD authentication - OK
SSL - OK
Home directory - not quite.

44444 Nice integration

Besides the nice interface, and the ease of configuration, I finde the seamles integration with NT users the strongest feature. Instead of having to set up individual users on the FTP server, and afterwards setting up the same users for NT-credentials (to access folders with different permissions), this server relies on the user setup from the Windows user management. It's ability to run as an NT-service is also rather useful for a server that is not logged in at all times.

55555 Cerberus FTP Server

Installation and configuration was a breeze.
Extremely intuitive interface. This is how setting up an FTP Server should be! And, it really performs. I can't recommend it enough.

11111 Not for the novice

Nice Windows-looking interface, not too busy, clean and neat. HOWEVER, if you don't know too much about FTP's, you'll get frustrated with it. FTP Voyager is much easier, but it's not free. I didn't know what I was doing with Voyager and all I had to do was follow the instructions and it worked! Looks like I'll fork over the money for it anyway.

22222 Root dir is not root dir

I installed it easily and have been able to create users and everything, nice...
but one thing that I didn't find is the ability to have a real root directory for each user: when you connect as a user it seemed that you connect to a virtual root dir in which you can't upload anything. That's a big problem for what I wanted to do, so I'll stick with my old not nice looking FTP server

11111 author has a bad attitude

Don't use this software. Beside serving FTP, it sends a bunch of fake impressions/clicks for the author's affiliate programs (eg. fastclick, doubleclick, etc) at every connection.

55555 review of Cerberus FTP server

The Cerberus FTP server is a very-easy-to-use FTP server that is robust and slim. It is best fit for use in secure environments (LANs or behind firewalls). It does not support SFTP but I think that's ok for a free program.

44444 So cool but...

Very cool, but I didn't find how to create subdirectories that forward to a network share. I didn't find to how to specify security for subdirectories... Only the first level seems to be secured...
