this is useful for those who are hunting for a switch to turn off monitor by not switching of mechanically. .scr file can be double clicked to run and hence it is very much equivalent to screen shut off and compute running as normal

While working on a computer that didn't have any screen savers installed, I wanted a simple, blank screen saver that would allow password protection while not requiring unnecessary memory/resources. This did the trick. The PC in question didn't have the install disk to allow installing the standard Windows screensaver, so it was great to find this option instead. The only reservation I have on this is that it's 92K, which seems large (the standard Windows Blank Screen screensaver is only 10K), but tolerable.

Most people probably won't need this, but for those who do, it's useful. Towards the other commentor, it seems odd to criticize something just because you personally don't have a need for it.

Why do people insist on reinventing the wheel? Windows has a built-in "Blank" screensaver, not to mention power-saving settings that allow the monitor to be turned off.
