I have tried many defrag programs recently because of the lack of performance on poorly fragmented sytem(mine). The pc public recommends keeping your pc defragged for time efficiency.
I do a lot of downloading and inevitably uninstalling. This leaves the hard disk very fragmented.
I did not like diskeeper, O & O defrag or perfect disk as they took over my resources and I feel did not work well enough. With some of these programs, they even took over windows defrag program so I could not even use it. I even analized my Harddrive after using the other S/W and it was still fragmented. This is bad karma.
The answer was I wanted to work while defragging could take place and still be able to analyze my hard drives fragmentation amount using windows xp defrag utility and also keep the expense low for new sw purchase.
Magic Defrag is the answer. It is "on the fly" defragging and operates when the system is idle. Set and forget it. I think we have this interpretation that you have to see a programs visuals to see that you paid for something and see all the bells and whistles. This is just so simple that it IS magic.
I checked XP's defrag analysis the next day and the windows op sys recommended that I did not need to perform a defrag. See, I told you, you can use XP's own defrag program still as it was not taken over. Ashampoo's magic Defrag is the best of the lot. My system I feel is running a whole lot faster. I give this program 5 x 5 stars and at $12.99 (I Think) more or less, is well worth the investment. Peace. Jim
