SopCast – Free P2P Internet TV
SopCast is a free service that allows sending / receiving video and audio over the Internet using P2P technology (Peer-to-Peer).
The system is efficient and easy to use, is conceived so anyone can submit directly to the Internet, even if they don’t have a powerful server and an impressive bandwidth. With a simple personal computer and a regular subscription to the Internet, you can pass the homes of over 10,000 users.
SopCast is abbreviation for “Streaming over P2P”, because as I said a few lines above, Sopcast is a streaming service (Streaming Direct Broadcasting System) based on P2P system and the communication protocol produced by SopCast Team.
What advantages does it have?
Efficient P2P technology makes users to share the same data, resulting in a more stable video channel and easier to follow. Minimum delay and fast loading buffer (somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds). Possibility to create their own video channels, combined with support for a large number of formats: asf, wmv, rm, rmvb, mp3, etc. Reduced consumption of resources (both in terms of memory and CPU load). It has the possibility of registration. We are not forced to use a specific player and can choose between Windows Media Player, RealPlayer or VLC. Enables transmission of events taking place in real time. Support for HTTP, and MMS.
The channels are monitored in real time so that users can form a meaningful opinion on the quality of the source and transmission network. We are proposing even a quality indicator. The service is using standard URLs, so a simple click on the address starting with sop: / / is sufficient to open the channel. Loops are allowed to play.
It is allowed to authenticate both the broadcasters, but also of ordinary viewers, consumers. Technology used for performing address translation to (NAT) exceeds the limitations of most P2P system. Securing the system at both ends. A single PC can be used to transmit multiple video channels. Sop player, like Media Player, can be embedded into any web page or in another application.
Simply double-click on any of your predefined channels, to open the viewer window, and in more than half a minute, you can sit quietly in front of the TV. Or instead of double click, right-click and choose “Play”. Make sure the buffer will reach 100, otherwise you are risking a stuttering picture.
