  • Try Foxit, The Freeware PDF Document Reader

    foxit reader

We have Adobe Acrobat Reader to view PDF files, so why download and try Foxit PDF Reader? This was the first question that sprang up in my mind when I first heard of the Foxit Reader, and the answer to that question is sheer convenience. Although Adobe’s Acrobat Reader is almost deemed as an undisputed authority over PDF files, but not every user is ready to stick with it if it does not make any sense.

This is the very reason why we are even talking about another PDF reader, and you can find Foxit PDF Reader as a very light and convenient software. What is even better that it is available for free and is far easier to setup and install than the heavy Adobe Acrobat Reader. Another very important factor is the size of the software. Foxit Reader has a setup file of no more than just 5.3 MB, while we all know how lengthy and heavy the process of download and installation of Adobe Acrobat Reader can be. • The Usefulness of Dropbox

Dropbox is one of the most useful and nerdy tools available on the internet. Dropbox allows you to setup a virtual drive on your computer that can then be synced across the cloud (aka the internet) to any of your computers, smartphones, or the Dropbox.com website. That is the easy way to explain Dropbox, but Dropbox is also hugely complex or hugely simple, depending on how you use it.

Dropbox is a for pay service, with monthly and yearly plans available. But, you can get 2GB free for signing up to the service – so you can use the free plan as much as you want, forever. The 2GB is enough space for most people that are using Dropbox to sync their documents and smaller files, but for heavy users using Dropbox in a business environment the pay plans are well worth the connivence. • Cyberduck FTP Client for OS X

Cyberduck is an open source and free FTP client for Macintosh computers. Cyberduck is my FTP client of choice for all of my web projects, it is so easy to use and interface is very Mac like. Another great part of Cyberduck is the logo – a rubber ducky.

Cyberduck is just an easy to use FTP client, there are really no fancy features, but the depth and breadth of the features really make this stand out as a great FTP program. I have never fealt a reason that I needed to purchase a more robust FTP client for my Mac, Cyberduck does everything I need it to do.

One great thing about Cyberduck is the amount of different protocols that it can connect to. They are: FTP, SSH, WebDav, Amazon S3, and Rackspace’s Cloud Files.

The interface is really easy to use, when you log in you are prompted to donate to the project if you are using the newest version (only happens once) and then you are right into the interface. The interface is very simple, featuring a simplistic view with, open connection, quick connect, action, refresh, edit, and disconnect being on the main menu. Under the main menu is the secondary menu with thinks like Bookmarks, History, and Bonjour. Read the rest of this entry »

  • Get the Basic Computer Protection at No Cost with AVG-Anti-Virus Free Edition

    avg antivirus free
Editors PickAVG Anti-virus Free Edition is by far the most popular software, and the most frequently used by most internet users around the world. Although it is not the first name that will spring to your mind when we talk about anti-virus software, since software like McAfee and Norton have been around for quite a while, and are probably the most well-known software, but using them not only costs you money, but let’s face it, it is also inconvenient.

There are two main reasons why people prefer to choose AVG Anti-Virus software over any other. Firstly, because it is absolutely free of course, and secondly, it is really very simple and convenient. It features only 4 processes, which is probably among the smallest, if not the smallest anti-virus software around. Another very important positive about the software is the fact that it is simple and user-friendly, and since it is not really heavy, even the older computers can bear it without any problems. • Clyppan Mac Paste Board App

Clyppan is a Mac application that is open-source and free to use for all Mac OS X users.

    What does Clyppan do?
Clyppan is a clipboard manager that allows you to save your copied text to a clipboard for use at a later time. What does that mean? Basically you can use Clyppan to save your copied text for use later. So instead of having to go back to wherever you copied that text from you can go into Clyppan and retrieve it.

The good part about this is that a lot of people lose text that they paste. I know that almost on a daily basis I copy and paste an email address or some important text and have closed the window then I need it 10 minutes later and I have copied something else in the mean time. I can then go into Clyppan and retrieve that text and make it my current thing to paste on the clipboard. It is so handy and such a lifesaver, you would be crazy to not have this free application on your desktop. Read the rest of this entry »

  • Music Lovers Tweak Your Favourite Songs With Audacity

Editors PickIt is always a relief to find a useful software that allows you to perform many useful functions and you do not have to pay a single cent for it. Such is the case with Audacity, which is one of the most useful free tools I have encountered as yet which allows you to do some audio editing. Given the number of audio editors that you can find on the internet, it is all but too confusing when it comes to finding the right software that fulfills all your essential audio editing needs.

Audacity has really created a great impact in a very short time due to its remarkable features, which has made users forgo many other audio editing and recording software for it. Audacity has an easy user interface and offers support to 32-bit floating point audio, which makes it a simple but very useful tool for audio editors. Simplicity of the interface is one of the major strengths of Audacity. The last thing you need for editing your audio files is to work in a mind-boggling environment, cluttered with design flaws, and you can be sure Audacity offers you no such thing. • ZIPGENIUS: A REAL GENIUS ARCHIVING SOFTWARE

    zipgenius

Editors PickFile compression, also known as file zipping provides many advantages. But it is mainly done to reduce the file size. File zipping can be used to compress a file so that it can be easily and quickly uploaded onto internet. If many files are needed to be sent via an Email, instead of uploading them individually, which is time consuming and tedious, all the files can be brought together and compressed into one file which is much smaller in size. It can be used to reduce the size of back up files. Unused components on a hard drive can also be compressed so that free space is made available for other purposes. There can be many more applications depending on user requirements. The files can be compressed into various formats which again depend on user requirements. The zipped files can be unzipped by the recipient and the files can be retrieved without any errors. Read the rest of this entry »
