SpeedFan is a smart utility program that monitors your fan speeds, voltage and temperatures within your computer system. It does this by communicating with your hardware monitor chips and then the information is sent back to the program and displayed in a readable fashion.
SCSI disks are fully supported by SpeedFan and FSB can also be changed on certain hardware devices. Temperature output is displayed so you can see the current temperatures of your system. You can set limits and alerts to notify you if the temperature reaches a certain level. This feature along can save you money especially if you are a frequent ‘overclocker’ who tends to push it a little too far. Controlling fan speeds is another nice feature included as it allows you to set the speed of each fan throughout your computer. Simply turn it up if you are running a little hot or turn it low if you are wanting to save a bit of your systems energy.
SpeedFan is compatible with almost all hardware monitor chip connected to a 2-wire System Management Bus and works with all Windows operating systems.
If you plan to overclock your computer or perhaps you want to lower noise or power consumption, SpeedFan is a great choice. It may require a few minutes for the less computer savvy to understand but for the average user it is very easy and effective. Best of all SpeedFan is completely free so why not try it out?
