my cousins computer was severly bogging down do too viruses and imesh. her norton antivirus also missed quite a few. avast found 13 viruses which two where autodialers(not good)but avast deleted them all. good work people of avast.

I just need to say, AVAST home edition is better then norton, mcfee and a whole whack of other ones. Let me tell you why! I work at a computer store, we service computers and I have seen a lot of computers come in with other antivirus programs that are suppose to be great. When we run avast, we find all kinds of viruses. One time we found over 900 viruses on this guy's computer. We ran out of ink trying to print it off to prove just how good it is. I love it so much that i joined their affiliate program.

pleased ..but...
This is a very good anti-virus programme and for free. Found viruses others didn't. Only drawback, it tends to slow things down. Getting on line now seems to take ages.

To whom this may concern,

I used to use AVAST home Edition and I was very pleased with your program,
till someone recommended I try Bitdefender 8 Strandard, which I did A few days ago,
I tried it and what a nightmare that program was, well seemed to be one big bug.
The scanning would stop at about 74%,then my computer was blocked and had to reboot everytime.

Support,forget it there was no support!!!.

With there program you can send suspect files to there Labs (Bitdefender) but you never hear from them agian,
just left in the cold. Payed Eur 44.42 for that!!!.

Automactic updates yes,but the only thing you see is ERROR OCCURRED WHILE UPDATING and then
your computer is blocked,so lets reboot again,it drives you cazzy.

And I never had that problem with AVAST it always works.

So I must admit I came running back to you guys,just downloaded AVAST PRO, going to try the pro for 60days
and iam sure iam going to buy that program.

Sorry that I send this e-mail,but I geuss it's nice to hear when someone is happy with good software.

I liked Avast Pro so much. I became a reseller for Avast. It catches almost everyting. No virus scan is perfect.

Did You Know Avast Has Interchangable Skins??
I've had Avast! Home Edition for the last two years, and it is indeed THE best. But did you know you can change the look (or skins)of your antivirus console?? Go to www.alwil.com (Avast! home page), and you can find downloadable skins for your Avast! virus scanner. I found one there with a Star Trek console theme. KEWL!!

Love this AV software. Found 31 Trojan/Trojan generators that Norton (fully updated) missed. Scanned again after I found the 31 and found another 12! Avast is my AV software from now on, although I really hope they add a scan scheduler for auto scanning in future updated for the Home edition.

I've tried Symantec (Norton), McAfee, and ZoneLabs products, but finally, I decided to stick with avast. It's a great program and detected trojans that norton antivirus missed. It really makes you wonder why people pay for antivirus protection.

The cons:
The interface looks more like a media player than an antivirus program, the window is non-resizable. At first sight, it may not be that clear how to initiate a scan (for some users).
While you can still download skins to fix this problem to a degree, I think the developers should really make a professional, modern looking, effecient GUI.
I don't think I found a way to schedule regular scans either. This was a dissapointment.

Overall, besides the few comments I had about the GUI this program is well worth the download. Don't pay for products which are inferior.
