For those who are still reading reviews to decide which anti-virus to use, go ahead and get AVG! I've been using it for a while. It really does its job so smoothly that you almost don't notice that it's there, unlike the commercial anti-viruses like Norton, McAfee, Panda which can really use a lot of resources and slow down your system.

In these days that you have to use an anti-virus plus an anti-spyware to get some protection, I've found a great combination with AVG and SpyCatcher from Tenebril (tenebril.com) (I know this review is not about anti-spyware but it's good to mention it...).

Remember, if you're gonna be online you better get your computer well protected and the software up to date for your own good and safety. Don't forget to do this recommendation to your friends no matter what anti-virus and anti-spyware they choose. Share some knowledge and experience with them and they will appreciate it!

I haven't paid for A-V software in years. There's no need to when AVG Free is this good. Not only has it kept my PC protected, it doesn't suck up all my machine's memory and CPU cycles in the process.

Seriously, I could have one of the commercial brands at no cost to me (provided by my employer), but I've chosen to stick with AVG Free. It's that good.

Installation is snap, configuring it to scan email is easy, and updates are frequent and automated. For home users, I can see absolutely no reason to pay for antivirus software any more.

Very Nicely Done
I have been using AVG for almost 3 years now, perhaps longer. Tis prog is a must for folks who want a nice and FREE anti-virus program.

Norton Anti Virus may be good, but it has let a few viruses in way back that AVG could block out.

Bottom line; GET AVG, it's worth every penny! The full version as well as the free version!

THIS ITEM HAS REPLACED NORTON, MCAFEE, AND VCOM, AS THE MAIN GUN FOR MY PC. I STILL AM AMAZED AT THIS JEWEL IN THE ROUGH, ESPECIALLY THAT GRISOFT GIVES IT FREE, AND IT WORKS, AND IT UPDATES MORE OFTEN THAN ANY OF MY PAID FOR SCANNERS DID. PROBABLY NOT THE FASTEST OUT THERE, BUT THE BEST IN MY EXPERIENCE. IT, AND WEBROOT -SPY SWEEPER- ARE THE CROWN JEWELS !!EXPERIENCE
