Much more effective and easier to use than the subscription-based Norton Antivirus...has much more frequent updates (daily), uses far less system resources than any other program I've seen, and has a much more sophisticated search and settings system. Best of all, it's 100% FREE...recommended to all

Comprehensive test results can be found at http://www.av-test.org/ These indicate that AntiVir is generally better than AVG but that both AntiVir and AVG are inferior to the "brand name" paid programs.

If we are to believe test results then AntiVir has higher detection and cleaning rates than any other free antivirus, much better than its main rivals AVG, or Avast, which have poor detection and clean rates. AntiVir doesnt have an email scanner but if you use McAffee scanned Hotmail like I do then this isnt a problem.

This is *THE BEST* AV prog out!!

Also the smallest - <3.8MB dnld!
(I don't know where The Great Giz got his "@ about 5397kb" from)

Uses VERY little resources!
Installs in about 2 seconds, even online - no reboot necessary!
Leaves NO traces behind, when installing, or when uninstalling!
Has saved our bytes many times!
NEVER failed to trap a virus!
NO probs WHATSOEVER!
Updated VERY often, sometimes daily, as necessary!
Super EZ to use!
It's still free!

CAN'T BE BEAT!

(I only wish ALL S/W was like this!)

LET'S CONTINUE MAKING IT BETTER, GUYS!!!!
AntiVir Personal Edition (free)is a great antivirus program, i use it along with AVG and Micro-Trend Housecall and there is no conflicting programs no freeze-ups or boot-offs and this program even caught the lovesan virus on my XP Home Edition. (downside): like most people say when downloading new virus logs you actually download the program again(not a cool thing, unless you're watching something on t.v. while it downloads @ about 5397kb depending on new viruses) but, other than that it's a very good "FREE" program. Continue research AntiVir writers.
