I enjoyed this film very much. Gerrard Butler was wonderful in his role of the Phantom. He played this part with so much feeling that it made the film sad and one could really amagine the Phantoms despair. Emmy and Patrick had lovely voices but Gerrard Butler for me stole the film with variations of singing to display passion, depair, anger, and frustration. I cried when he cried and wanted Christine to love him, however I thought when she kissed him I wanted to slap her, she said beautiful creature of darkness, god give me the strength to show you ,you are not alone. Then she kissed the Phantom , enough I thought to change anyones mind of a life with her. But it was wonderful . Humour with Minnie Driver in her pink beautiful costume and she called the Phantom a toad and he called her one.The Phantom sent a note to the manager and asked him to send him money in the post care of the ghost that made me laugh.

Joel is a great producer. I loved the song At the point of no return. I could sense the passion between the Phantom and Christine on stage it was great. How could anyone have walked out of the cinema which I read, that showed lack of amagination feeling and no taste. Lets have more films like Phantom please.

EXCELLANT job done by all!! I thought the Phantom's voice was good. He most certainly was a SEXY phantom. I had goose bumps at the end, when he sang "Past the point of no return" I was going to jump in there after him and go underground if she didn't. lol.I have watched the movie at least 7 times this weekend. Loved the costumes, loved the scenery, I also loved that the story finally came together for me and that I understood all the story lines that I missed at the play version.
The time at the graveyard with Christine visiting her father. Never got that on the stage. I thought she was trying to find the phantom. Loved it all! Minnie Driver had me laughing and injoying the Diva Song. I Fell asleep when it was on the stage. ten thumbs up!

I have watched this movie so many times and every time it is as wonderful as the first. I fell in love with the Phantom and Gerard Butler played and sang his role to perfection. His voice was strong and gentle at the same time. He is such a manly man. He had a powerful effect on the movie for me. Emmy Rossum was so innocent and beautiful that I wanted to be her. I wanted to be her kissing the Phantom. I felt that kiss. Her voice was so pleasant to the ear and no one could be more of a perfect Christine. Patrick Wilson had the most mellow and calming voice and I thought he was handsome and dashing. He played the role with strength and passion. The sets and the visual effects made this movie entertaining to the eye. Mascurade was strong, delightful, powerfull and cleaverly done. The costumes were wonderful and playfull. The stage play did not even come close to making you feel what this movie made you feel. This is a movie one could see over and over and always enjoy it's power. This movie should have been given the Oscar for best movie of the year. The Oscar for best casting as well. Bravo to the producer and the director and the writer. It is a movie that truely touched me. I wish more people would have seen it and hope that they will find this treasure.

Flawed but enchanting
This is a beautiful movie despite some problems. Gerard Butler's singing is passable, no more than that; but he did a good job acting out the various aspects of the Phantom's character. Unfortunately he could have used more "ugly makeup" - his deformaty was pretty tame considering that it made him a social outcast. Emmy Rossum spent most of the movie looking stunned, but her singing was strong, clear, and sweet. Raoul was made to look like a prat (the hair!) and his character is so thin that viewers who are unfamiliar with the story will probably have a hard time understanding what Christine sees in him. Patrick Wilson is a wonderful singer however. I LOVED Minnie Driver as Carlotta; she filled out the role wonderfully and provided much needed comic relief.

The visuals and the mood of the film are beautiful, as is the music. There are problems with continuity and logic, and one could argue that the Phantom's character was softened a bit too much from that of the play. Despite the flaws though (and what movie doesn't have flaws) I found this film to be enchanting and compelling. Good job to Joel Schumacher.

Gerard was so good at singing. I have the movie and I have seen it 78 times and it still does not get boring. Emmy blew me away! She had such a sweet voice and she is so pretty and HOT! Patrick had a very soft voice and the girls love him. Minnie was so funny she was one of the best stars in the movie and hinds was ok. The butt part was so wrong. So, good job WB.

Brilliant and breath taking
I'd seen the play twice and thought it was great however when I finally saw the film I was blown away. Gerard Butler is brilliant in the movie as well as Emmy and Patrick. All the other members of the cast are perfect. Minnie is great too and makes me laugh everytime I watch her. The whole essence of the film has captivated me and my family, we can't stop watching it or listening to the sound track. The best film ever for beauty and emotion.

I have seen the stage version and the film over and over. They are both good in completely different ways. In my opinion Emmy Rossum has a clarity and trueness to her voice that Sara Brightman can only envy. Gerard Butler (the Phantom in the film version)is foremost an actor and brought a more masculine edge to the character. His singing was not operatic, but this is a musical not an opera. The only stage version Phantom for me is Michael Crawford. That voice! Gorgeous, never fails to give me goose bumps. Minne Driver turned the Diva into a very comical character which made the film much lighter than the stage version. The stage version is generally much darker. I think anyone that loves the gothic elements of the stage show will be disappointed with the film. But the film is hauntingly beautiful and maximises every advantage that film making affords to create something that is every bit as dramatic and memorable as the stage show.
