Would be perfect, except for one BIG problem...

I recently done a clean reinstall of Win 98 and, eager not to dirty my PC up with spyware download managers, I decide to install Star Downloader as it was true freeware. I was thoroughly delighted with its features - it downloaded files just as fast as DAP (my previous downloader) and it had extra advantages, like 'Categories' you could put your downloads into (and thus save you having to trawl through dialog boxes for separate types of downloads.)
However, a problem arose on my PC which I never suspected had anything to do with Star Downloader: the other two users of this PC couldn't get Internet Explorer to work properly. Most links were 'dead' (most on yahoo.com for example) and the modem and status bar indicated zero activity when these links were clicked or search engines were queried. I assumed the other users had been browser-hijacked and was just about to reinstall Windows when I came upon an weblog by someone on the web complaining of the exact same problem - how they as administrator had installed this Star Downloader and although when they logged in there were no problems, when everyone else logged in IE was kaputt. They'd fixed it by uninstalling Star Downloader. I done this and the problem was indeed fixed. This dismayed me, because I loved this download manager and now I have to go find another (probably adware) one. I have no idea why this problem occurs - maybe it only effects PCs with more than one user logging on, in which case I'd completely recommend it to those of you who don't share the PC. But I wish the developers would identify and fix this problem.
