SelfImage Description:
SelfImage is a disk imaging program for Windows. It's capable of making an image file of any hard disk or partition on your system, including partitions that Windows doesn't recognize or assign a drive letter to (ie: Linux partitions), and remote (Network Block Device) partitions. It is capable of on-the-fly compression (gzip & bzip2) that can use hyperthreading/SMP/dual-core CPUs to significantly accelerate the process. SelfImage will recognize and skip unallocated space on any recognized partition (NTFS, FAT32, Linux ext2/ext3) for faster operations and better compression.
Operating System Support: Win/98/ME/2000/XP
Review for SelfImage

Saved OS from dying HD
Randomly tried Self image to help clone a dying OS HD. Worked!
Was impressed by the ability to clone an active booted partition to an external drive.

Selfimage compression
Neither of the gz compressions work. Created file is corrupt; reported by winrar. BZ and no compression worked. (from win 2000; over a network to an XP pro box.)

This program obviously contains some great engineering, but IT WILL NOT RESTORE THE PARTITIONS IT SAVED! Meanwhile, the author has disappeared without a trace and cannot be told about this absolutely fatal bug, which just might be easy to fix!
