11111 New Obit downloader built-in unwanted during install home page HI-Jack.

Obit Downloader v2.8.20 © Has a new and unwanted catch. The following data on Obit was collected thru "Who Is-ing" and trace-route-ing orbitdownloader.com | Owner: Tao Han, China, Wangjiazhuanghutong, Beijing, 100029 | Server locations: United States). The problem with their new build is it has removed a warning or even an option to keep your normal Internet portal, Yahoo, MSN, etc. once it has installed. After it had fully installed (which went off smooth) I got a warning on my screen when I opened the program to check the settings or find out any new functions, I had set my computer to alert me if ANY program was attempting to change my internet portal which is full of information I follow & have added to for years. This new build WILL reset your portal to Obit's home-page version, not let you know it did until you go online & open your browser, or have the cyber-savvy to have alerts that will let you know if any software is changing your home-page, or attempting to. Quite a surprise for a novice-level user who (maybe) does not know how to re-set their Internet portal back to normal and lock it there, but I do not like vendors making those decisions for users without even letting them know or choose in advance. That's called site 'hi-jacking' and is frowned upon with legitimate software vendors outside of nations where it's common practice, common if you are into free online hi-end gaming & that's ALL you use your computer for, more power to you! Please don't get me wrong, I am NOT bashing (previous builds of) Obit downloader, it is a solid and much used piece of freeware I recommend highly, until I got round to posting this legitimate gripe. IMHO it beats out 'Free Download Manager' © close competition until that program stopped downloading anything and required regular reinstalls just to work. Obit has never failed, always used to ask if I wanted to change my Internet Portal DURING install, and even re-starts dropped downloads. Obit downloader has loads of useful functions (like running downloaded files thru a 3rd-party bug checker). I have used it since with no problems, that is up until their 29 December 2009 'Chinese New Year' web-page hi-jacking build/release/trick, my advise is stick to the previous build of this Innoshock software: Orbit Downloader 2.8.18. If you doubt this warning then feel free to install this malware-free downloader v2.8.20 to see if your Internet Portal is now a Qbit-centric sales pitch for their products. Oh yeah it's Windows 7 compatible.... I am not sure if that is good or bad news! File in question is: OrbitDownloaderSetup.exe 2.8.0.20, 2.43 MB. Turning the auto-update' feature off with this program may be a wise move if future builds change your internet portals per upgrade.
Your call if U want to keep using it.
