So, i've tried and tested a bunch of other downloaders before. This one works. You can download multiple items. You can download very quickly from high bandwidth sites - faster than using a browser. e.g. Items which would take maybe half an hour can sometimes take only 4 or 5 minutes. Also, difficult to download files from low quality sites can still be downloaded, in several sessions if necessary. The user interface is very easy to get to grips with, but you have to get used to manually copying the link location and pasting it into the 'add' funtion on FreshDownload, since some websites force the download over the browser rather than routing through freshdownload, even if it's selected as the default downloader.

Unlike many other DLM's, this one actually downloads files faster than the download functionality built in to most browsers. Too many others simply don't accelerate at all, they just show you a fancy graph that presents the illusion of speed. The interface is very clean and functional, and it allows to keep a list of all downloads and if you want, export them to a file for long term safekeeping. You can also customize which of the preset columns display in the window, as well as have the program start automatically with Windows.
Of course, the main thing is downloading, and Fresh Download indeed accelerates file downloads, plus allows you to create folders to hold specific file types, enter comments about each download, and integrates into all popular browsers with ease. Onr thing it lack is a function that allows to categorize downloads within the program itself, as in a folder list, but unless you're downloading mountains of files, that shouldn't matter. All in all, a very worthy download that doesn't punish you just because it' free.
