Berean BerBible Publisher's Description:
BerBible is simplified Bible freeware oriented to non-scholars (such as children, missionaries, senior citizens, etc.) The learning curve is trivial because only the essentials functions are implemented: (search and verse reference lookup).
The small 'StarterKit' download bundle includes the program, complete English Standard Version (ESV ©2001 Good News Publishing) and New King James Version (NKJV ©1982 Thomas Nelson, Inc) and extensive documentation (including Context Sensitive Help, Tip-of-the-Day, F1 HtmlHelp, several FAQ's, e-support, and extensive tutorial oriented to less experienced end-users).
Even on 'dinosaur' computers, BerBible is ready to use in less than one second. Word/phrase searching is very fast and flexible to find what you are looking for. An animated slideshow is available to show basic features.
BerBible works great on older computers that are too obsolete for fuller featured Bible software to be practical. It doesn't assume the end-user has a high res monitor and latest hardware. BerBible is very usable even with a Pentium-233, Win95, and VGA 640*480 res. The small download is optimized for people with slow, unreliable, or expensive Internet connectivity. StarterKits are available with a single Bible that fit on a 1.44mb floppy diskette.

Fast to learn, high-speed search

Because I run a Christian mega-site, Lynn asked me to visit the BerBible site to refer others. I tried the software myself, and WOW! That is what *I* have been looking for. Most non-professional Bible programs--even commercial software--don't use *indexed* search algorithms, so searching takes a long time even on a modern computer and only finds one match at a time. Berbible uses an indexed search that finds all matches in less than half a second! (To maximize/minimize, etc., right-click the Title Bar.)

First choice!

Wow! OK, I am a professional, having put about 34 years into computing before other stuff happened. I have around a dozen internet bookmarks for online bibles, and I have QuickVerse with 28 translations and maybe 135 reference books.
And I'm finding that I'm heading for Berean Bible (2.40) first! I may pick up something else second, because Berean Bible is intended to run on any computer, no matter how old, slow or small, for about any user who can find the power-on switch on their computer! In the interests of simplicity, Berean Bible leaves off "scholarly" capabilities like Strongs' numbering, commentaries, maps, etc.
Berean Bible has versions for Windows, Pocket-PC/Mobile and Palm.

BerBible Free Software

I believe this free software will prove invaluable to those people who do not have powerful computers, and for many others. I was particularly interested to note that BerBible had managed to include the New King James Version (NKJV). I have been finding the BerBible software very useful in helping to prepare online commentaries, especially since it includes both the ESV and NKJV, and also a first class Bible verse, word, and text search facility.
