FREE Outpost Security Suite comparison to Outpost Security Suite Pro 7:
For such a large [85B] install file expanding to 200MB's of a hard-drive space usage is akin to Norton or McAfee's best all-round suites in size and price. The freeware version offers: "All-round antivirus and antispyware, best-of-breed personal firewall, cutting-edge proactive protection, and anti-Spam functions."
It does NOT offer on a 365-day trial: Unique ID theft prevention, support for multiple languages, (many bugs are not written into Anglo alphabetic base codes) Agnitum technical support, and IMHO the most ineffective part is it lacks multiple daily updates, with tens-of-thousands of new malware codes/exploits and scams being fed into the WWW every day, this would seems to be it's Achilles heel if it fails to stop or even recognize a disk-wiping heuristic new worm, back-door or Trojan. And novice users flock to file-sharing must-haves like Facebook which if I were a pro-hacker I would exploit for all I could.
The Pro Ver$ion offers a complete suite including: All-round antivirus and antispyware,
best-of-breed personal firewall, note; is this a dog show or a software breeding club I haven't heard about :-} ? Cutting-edge proactive protection, anti-spam, safe web surfing, unique ID theft prevention, support for multiple languages, multiple daily updates and Agnitum technical support. I don't need to let savvy users know that right now there are many very good freeware safe-sufing add-ons, firewalls, spam-filters, ID theft protection progs, and most boast multiple daily/hourly updates for these freeware progs is a part of their simplistic yet efficient E-Z to use interface with an operating system a computer savvy novice could use well. Agnitum you may have a winner in your Pro version suite, but even what your freeware build offers is available in freeware progs like © Avast, AVG, Panda, P. C. Tools, Clam, Spyware Terminator, Microsoft Security Essentials, Avira, McAfee site advisor, Outpost, Zone-Alarm, Mail-Washer, WOT, and SO many other anti-malware programs that if they work in tandem (many don't) do a great job without putting all your bug-zapping cyber-eggs into one large cyber-basket (Outpost Security Suite Pro 7) that runs $60 (USD) for 1-year loaded onto 3 computers, and moves up in price from there for 2 years and 5 computers for a $C-note. I can't but help wonder that the very nature of malware attacks will continue to evolve as has been the norm, who would use 'Norton System Works 1998', a Windows 98 nice [not cheap] program back in the 'day', but useless in today's hyper-threat level environment spreading at speeds in the GB's/sec thru global servers? Also buying into a 2010/2011 $100 bundle may not be up to stopping much when the clock ticks over into 2-years from install wonder/familiarity wears off and they release a pay-some-more 4 a 'loyalty discount' upgrade to the next build, 8 or 9? Or a bug gets through and it fails, with disastrous consequences.
IMHO the days of 1 super suite thwarting every threat is a concept many mega corps would love you to buy into, but as the magnitude and sophistication of multi-exploits evolves into the Internet being a very risky place to surf or play, a mine-field of traps for any novice user, the counter-measures needed to plug every hole has to come from specialized programs that do one function very well like a hack-proof firewall, leaving online real time surfing threat elimination to another complex system, and malware storage checks/sweeps to another, all working in tandem and not sucking-up all your RAM just to keep your computers safe. This ends a long-winded review of (Euro-ware, support is 4-8 time zones away, free calls? In English? More like FAQ's or forum help only as most EU anti-malware progs only supply) Outpost Security Suite Pro; it's your computer, care to try it out?
