Technically, this product is excellent. It does what it's supposed to do, extracting partition images (with W2K up and running) to whereever you choose, then restores them effortlessly for whatever situation arises. I created rescue boot images on diskette.
I upgraded my C Drive. Merely had to Partition and format, then boot to the floppies and restore from the images created earlier (on another drive in my case, could have been CDR as well). Then rebooted, the whole process taking less than an hour for 12GB drive to a 40 GB drive, whith 6-7 Gig in use. W2K rebooted errorfree and not one hitch. Didn't need Maxtor software or W2K Install CD's at all!
In addition, any time I need to restore a file, I can use the 'explore image archive' to get an explorer view of my image backup, in case I wish to copy/restore some files individually.
While new builds available online, there is no technical support line, and email response is very slow, otherwise I would have rated the product excellent.

Acronis solves a problem

The primary reason I purchased this to replace Ghost, is that Trueimage can make an image of a Win2000 installation from within Windows. Ghost cannot do this, but where do you park that image-file without DOS-network support, on a single-partition system? Either on 2000 floppies or nowhere. Acronis can simply save the image on a network drive, even in 700 MB chunks that can be burned to a CR/RW for restoring the image, should the need arise. The program can also write those images to a variety of media, including burners and zip-drives. (I did not test this.)
Note that if you OWN Ghost, you can get a very nice discount (80%) from Acronis. You can purchase a fully functional version for 10 dollars, which can only operate on a system where Ghost is also installed.
I've been waiting for Ghost to implement this feature for a looooong time. Now I may never use it again.

Revently discovered this program after using Ghost & DriveImage for years but this one works great (for beginners & professionals). It let me even clone a Compaq Professional Workstation which failed with Ghost & DriveImage. I recently also tried their other products & i'm quite amazed. This company deserves much more attention. If you read pc-magazines, they always talk about Ghost & DriveImage but on the other hand, mostly these magazines are also full of advertising by these companies.
